Sophie Wu's website:)
I'm an M.A. student in Digital Humanities at McGill currently located in TiohtiĆ :ke/Montreal and working on a thesis to explore how AI/LLMs can be used to study human culture and behavior through language data.
I am interested in what this can teach us about:
- Human culture: We have more data than ever before on human behavior - but to use this data to meaningfully understand human behavior, we need to think critically about how to engage with computational tools for analysis.
- How computers "think": Computers can do so many things now that we used to think only people could do - explaining why they can/can't do these things can teach us a lot about human cognition.
- Language: Language is a key aspect of human culture, and studying it can reveal insights into our thoughts, identities, and social structures.
