Sophie Wu's website:)
I'm an M.A. student in Digital Humanities at McGill researching how language data can be used to study human culture -- my dinner party description of what I do is "using AI to study storytelling".
I am interested in what this can teach us about:
- Human culture: We have more data than ever before on human behavior - but to use this resource to meaningfully understand human behavior, we need frameworks for applying concepts from culturally meaningfully with computational tools.
- How computers "think": Comparing human and language model outputs on culturally grounded tasks can teach us a lot about model behavior.
